The second posthumous album by Malian guitarist and singer Ali Farka Touré, known as “Bluesman of Africa”, will be released on March 10th. “Voyageur” brings together nine previously unheard tracks that were created over a period of 15 years. In 2010, a posthumous album by the guitarist, who died in 2006, was released for the first time. “Ali and Tourmani”, created in collaboration with Toumani Diabaté, won a Grammy in the category “Best World Music Album” in 2011. It was recorded in 2004 when Tourè was already suffering from bone cancer. During the same sessions they both also completed “In the Heart of the Moon”, which was released in 2005 and won the same award in 2006.

The Malian Wassoulou singer Oumou Sangaré can be heard as a guest on three tracks of the new work. Like Touré, she is one of the few internationally renowned voices committed to the musical tradition of her native country. The collaboration of the longtime friends was previously only known through concerts. However, their last joint appearance was in 2003. Both can be heard on “Cherie” since February 9th. The piece offers a first taste of “Banolobourou” and “Sadjona”, also supported by Sangaré.
