3rd league: Viktoria Cologne takes over top

Viktoria Cologne has taken the lead in the 3rd soccer league with a zero number.

The Rhinelanders surpassed TSV 1860 Munich with seven points after beating Rot-Weiss Essen 0-0 in the western duel. Erzgebirge Aue also overtook the lions with the 2:1 (1:1).

1. FC Saarbrücken recorded a spectacular comeback victory, turning a 1:3 against SC Verl into a 4:3 (1:2). The other Wednesday games ended goalless between SC Freiburg II and newly promoted SpVgg Unterhaching as well as between Jahn Regensburg and the second team from Borussia Dortmund.

Dominik Becker (90+1.) shot Saarbrücken late to the first win of the season. FCS initially took the lead through Kasim Rabihic (4′, penalty kick) before Verl took aim for the three points with goals from Torge Paetow (34′), Lars Lokotsch (36′) and Oliver Batista Meier (54′). . Patrick Schmidt (60th) and Kai Brünker (76th) struck back for the Saarbrücken team. Verl are bottom with three losses from three games.

Sean Seitz (4th) and Joshua Schwirten (86th) scored for Aue. David Otto (7th) equalized early on for SVS, who suffered their first defeat of the season.
