3rd League: MSV Duisburg also loses at Dortmund reserves

MSV Duisburg suffered their next defeat at Borussia Dortmund II. The team from Lower Rhine is stuck at the bottom of the table, while BVB is at the top.

The second representation of Borussia Dortmund has a narrow but overall deserved victory against the MSV Duisburg played out. Coach Jan Zimmermann’s team won 1-0 (1-0) against Meiderich in the early game of the 9th matchday on Wednesday (September 27th, 2023).

Coach Engin Vural’s team remains at the bottom of the table with this new defeat 3rd league and continues to wait for the first win of the season. Paul-Philipp Besong scored for BVB II (14th minute). Dortmund are now firmly in the top third of the table.

Lots of passport and Position error

Borussia Dortmund II was already leading at halftime Duisburg earned 1-0. Paul-Philipp Besong scored for the hosts. And the result could have been more clearly in favor of Dortmund if the BVB youngsters had made better use of their numerous chances.

The Zebras repeatedly let Dortmund get in front of the goal through positional or passing errors and were lucky that goalkeeper Vincent Müller also had a good day. BVB controlled the game for long periods of the first half, while Duisburg mostly waited unsuccessfully on the counterattack.

MSV increases the pressure

MSV tried to apply pressure in the second half, but repeatedly got stuck in the opposing defense. The Dortmund team shifted down a gear, but without getting into serious difficulties. Despite all their offensive efforts, Duisburg were too harmless.
