3rd league: Ingolstadt wins against Halle and ends the mini-crisis

Status: 08.11.2022 21:46

After the last two defeats, the Schanzer found themselves back on the road to success against Halle. Tobias Bech redeemed the Ingolstadt team, who had previously missed numerous chances. With the win, Ingolstadt is back in the promotion race.

The teams equalized over long stretches of the first half. While the Schanzer struggled to convert their possession into a chance, Halle mostly got caught in the opponent’s penalty area with their counterattacks. Nevertheless, FCI was lucky once when Funk picked up a back pass in the penalty area without getting an indirect free kick. But maybe that was the moment of shock that Ingolstadt needed, because in the last ten minutes they suddenly turned up the heat. However, Testroet, Costly and Doumbouya missed good chances or took the decisive step too late.

Ingolstadt with usury opportunities after the break

After the break, coach Rüdiger Rehm’s team was significantly better and created numerous scoring opportunities. The best chance was missed by striker Doumbouya, who hit the outside of the post after an hour. A little later, Kopacz ran freely towards the visitors’ goal but missed the shot just wide. Only in the final phase did the Schanzer score. After a cross from the right, Doumbouya headed the back post, where Bech pushed it over the line (83′). The salvation for the Schanzer, who ultimately were not punished for the poor exploitation of chances.

With the victory, the Schanzer jump back to fourth place and are only one point behind the relegation place, which is currently occupied by TSV 1860. The Löwen can extend their lead tomorrow in the top game against SC Freiburg II.
