3rd League: Hallescher FC disappointed in Unterhaching

As of: February 7, 2024 9:02 p.m

Bad luck at the end and individual mistakes: Hallesche FC remained without points or goals in Unterhaching – and that on Sreto Ristic’s birthday.

Hallesche FC failed to move further away from the relegation places. On coach Sreto Ristic’s 48th birthday, the HFC lost 0-2 (0-0) away to SpVgg Unterhaching on Wednesday evening (February 7, 2024). With a win, Halle could have moved four points clear of the relegation zone. But because they conceded at least one goal in the 24th league game this season, the lead over the first relegation spot is still only one point.

Tough first half in Unterhaching

With winter newcomer Brian Behrendt in the starting line-up for the suspended Enrique Lofolomo, the HFC initially determined the initial phase. However, Timur Gayret’s shot after four minutes was blocked. There was little to nothing to see of Unterhaching. Halle closed the rooms, didn’t allow any chances, but also seemed rather unimaginative. It’s hardly surprising that the first real excitement came from the stands when Halle fans threw tangerines onto the pitch to protest against the DFL and investor involvement.

Shortly afterwards, Unterhaching was actually just centimeters away from taking the lead, but Patrick Hobsch slipped narrowly past Aaron Keller’s flat cross (16th). However, that didn’t really make the game any more attractive. Both teams offered playful, lean meals. It wasn’t until after 38 minutes that Halle’s Julian Eitschberger scored the first real shot from distance (38′). At this point, teammate Behrendt was already back on the bench after having to be substituted with a thigh problem. Jonas Nietfeld, who was most recently accurate, came into play for him.

Unterhaching strikes ice cold

But even the regular captain couldn’t prevent the deficit shortly after the restart. After a cross from Haching, Lucas Halangk passed the ball across his own box without any need, Aaron Keller splashed in between them and gave Schulze no chance in the HFC box with his shot into the corner (50th). Halle reacted to the unnecessary goal with furious attacks: Tarsis Bonga, however, only hit the side netting from a tight angle before Erich Berko, who came on for him shortly afterwards, was prevented from finishing at the last moment.

Unterhaching more effective: Nils Ortel makes it 2-0.

The home team showed how things could get better: Halle couldn’t keep up after losing the ball. Haching’s Nils Ortel drove the ball across half the field and, after a perfectly played one-two with Fetsch, welded the ball under the crossbar (68′). Again Halle ran desperately and almost scored thanks to Besar Halimi’s cheeky shot from 25 meters. But Vollath parried with a strong reflex (72′). Because Nietfeld only hit the crossbar ten minutes before the end after Berko’s lay-off and Vollath had Gayreth’s shot in the follow-up, Halle ultimately suffered a not undeserved defeat.
