3rd League: Erzgebirge Aue succeeds in breaking free against Saarbrücken

After three defeats in a row, FC Erzgebirge Aue wanted to turn things around again against 1. FC Saarbrücken. And that was achieved at 2-0 (0-0), after an appealing performance – also thanks to an ex-Auer.

After three defeats in a row, FC Erzgebirge Aue was able to celebrate three points again on Saturday against 1. FC Saarbrücken. In front of 8,006 spectators in the Erzgebirgs Stadium, there was no sign of the “bankruptcies, bad luck and mishaps” that coach Pavel Dotchev had spoken of after the debacle against Preußen Münster. The violets were awake from the start and hardly allowed their opponents to develop. However, goals only came in the second half after Saarbrücken were down to ten men due to a yellow-red card from ex-Auer Calogero Rizzuto.

No goals in the first half

The first half was evenly balanced, although it was clear that the violets had something planned for this important game. Marcel Bär managed a dangerous shot from nine meters in the 8th minute. Since the guests from Saarland only had chances, the teams went into halftime with a score of 0-0.

Aue was involved in the game with commitment and heart right from the start.

Rizzuto helps his former club

While the second half initially started calmly, things became turbulent in the 56th minute. Rizzuto saw the traffic light card after trying to prevent Seitz from counterattacking with a body check. After brief scuffles and discussions between the referees, Marcel Bär and Bone Uaferro also received a yellow card. Boris Tashchy was able to take advantage of the numerical advantage in the 65th minute and scored his first goal of the season. Just nine minutes later, Tashchy managed to outplay Saarbrücken goalkeeper Tim Paterok, who had moved far out, and fed Seitz, who made it 2-0 (74′).

Tashchy missed the big chance to make it 3-0 in the 86th minute and Aue was then lucky that Lukas Boeder missed the target twice (87th/88th). Aue climbed to third place in the table thanks to the three points. Saarbrücken is seventh.
