3rd league: Erzgebirge Aue separates from head coach Timo Rost

Status: 09/20/2022 10:05 p.m

FC Erzgebirge Aue has parted ways with coach Timo Rost after less than four months. It is the consequence of a sporting descent that the committees of the traditional club sealed on Tuesday evening after several hours of discussions with the expulsion. The supervisory board also announced that managing director Michael Voigt announced his resignation from the management board. Two days earlier, longtime club boss Helge Leonhardt had thrown in the towel.

Third division team Erzgebirge Aue and head coach Timo Rost are going their separate ways with immediate effect. The relegated second division announced on Tuesday evening after a meeting lasting several hours: “After a joint meeting of the club’s committees and the detailed sporting analysis, the newly appointed board of FC Erzgebirge Aue came to the conclusion that Timo Rost should be released from his duties. The goal is the international break use to set new impulses.”

Müller takes over for the time being

On an interim basis, the team is being prepared for the Saxony Cup game at FC Eilenburg on Sunday under the direction of Carsten Müller, head of the youth academy. Information about a successor plan should be given in a timely manner.

Miserable yield under rust

The FCE is reacting to the sporting crisis, which catapulted the traditional club to the bottom of the table in the 3rd division. The change follows two days after the President’s resignation Helge Leonhardt, who on Sunday (09/18/2022) had resigned from his post.

Rost was only committed to the “Violets” in May, after the Franconian had made promotion to the 3rd division perfect with SpVgg Bayreuth. At FCE, however, the 44-year-old was not able to build on his successes as a coach. After nine match days, the coach, who is still winless and inexperienced in the third division, has just three points to his credit. Since the departure of Domenico Tedesco in the summer of 2017, nine coaches including interim solutions have followed until Rost alone.

Voigt resigns from the board – Ender’s new president

The supervisory board also announced that managing director Michael Voigt had announced his resignation from the management board. At the same time, the Supervisory Board unanimously appointed Torsten Enders (President), Frank Vogel, Sören Ullrich, Nico Dittmann and Kay Werner as interim board members until a short-term general meeting on November 12th.
