The range is varied: from forest cherries and apple trees to field maples, hazel trees and yellow dogwoods. Alderman for Climate Patrick Roose emphasizes the importance of the action: “Every new tree is an investment in a healthier, cooler and more liveable city. The fact that so many residents signed up shows that there is a great desire to green together.”

The action is part of the tree plan of the Regional Landscape and the Province of West Flanders. The project supports local authorities with an inventory of their trees, a management plan and an ‘opportunity map’ for new plantings. This service will be offered again in 2026.
