Sondre Brunstad Fet celebrates the goal

FK Bodö/Glimt has in the Champions League provided for the next surprise and in playoffs-First leg defeated last year’s finalists Inter Milan.

In the 3-1 win on Wednesday (February 18, 2026) in front of 7,845 spectators at the Aspmyra Stadium, Sondre Fet (20th), Jens Hauge (61st) and Kasper Högh (64th) scored for the outsiders from Norway, while Francesco Esposito (30th) was able to equalize for Inter.

Inter was warned

Inter were warned before the game. Bodö/Glimt remained unbeaten in the last three games of the group phase and climbed to 23rd place in the end. The Norwegians drew 2-2 at Borussia Dortmund, almost sensationally sent Manchester City home 3-1 and then surprisingly won the league final 2-1 at Atletico Madrid.

Last year’s finalist from Milan had the first chance on the artificial turf pitch. Petar Sucic played a long ball up front to Lautaro Martinez, who had taken off, who immediately shot from a tight angle. At the last moment, Jostein Gundersen was able to throw himself into the shot and block it.

Fet puts the underdog in the lead

The “yellow horde” from FK Bodö/Glimt kept the game open with a lot of effort. In the final third, however, there was initially a lack of ideas and impact. Until the 20th minute. After a nice combination over several stations, Fet suddenly appeared free in front of goalkeeper Yann Sommer in the Inter goal and scored to make it 1-0. Kasper Högh had previously dropped his heel.

Inter hits back: first the post, then the 1-1

Inter’s response didn’t take long to arrive. A cross from the left slipped through to Matteo Darmian, who took off from the ambush. The ball hit the right post. And a little later the equalizer came.

This time Nicolo Barella crossed from the right half field. Carlos Augusto missed the ball, but it fell at Esposito’s feet and he pushed it over the line from close range. The goal was checked because of an alleged handball, but the German referee Daniel Siebert then ruled it a goal.

Shortly afterwards, Inter goalkeeper Sommer was called upon again. The former Munich and Gladbach keeper made sure to take a powerful free kick from 20 meters from Patrick Berg. And shortly before the half-time whistle, Inter came again. A sharp cross from Carlos Augusto was deflected off a Norwegian defensive leg and the ball went just wide. We went into the break 1-1 – in keeping with the performance.

Inter comes out of the break strong

The favorite had to do more, that was clear. And the “Nerazzurri” didn’t take long to ask. After a strong ball into the back of the defense, Lautaro Martinez only hit the post. A little later, goalkeeper Nikita Haikin had a hard time with a hard free kick from Carlos Augusto. But Bodö/Glimt survived the pressure phase and calmed the game down again. And had a chance themselves: So Högh narrowly missed out on the strong summer.

Bodö/Glimt shocks Inter with a double blow

After an hour, Inter coach Cristian Chivu brought in his top striker Marcus Thuram. He was supposed to fix it, but the goal fell on the other side. After a mistake in Inter’s build-up game, Bödo/Glimt switched quickly. The ball came to Hauge via Fet and Högh, who shot powerfully from twelve meters.

And the outsider followed up mercilessly. This time it went down the left side via Hauge, Fet and Ole Blomberg, who passed the ball to Högh – and he just had to push it in at the five.

Milan has nothing left to add

Coach Kjetil Knutsen’s team then concentrated on defending and let Inter come. But not much came. The Serie A league leaders were somewhat shocked by the way the game was going and only had half chances. The top strikers Barella and Thuram repeatedly failed because of the defense, which fought selflessly until the end.

Who will make it to the round of 16 will be decided on Tuesday (9 p.m.) in the second leg in Milan. The winner of the duel will face Sporting Lisbon or Manchester City in the quarter-finals.
