2nd League: Holstein Kiel beats FCK – Nebel scores for KSC after 11 seconds

Fürth beats SVWW

Holstein Kiel remains on the heels of the leading duo FC St. Pauli and Hamburger SV. On the 14th matchday of the 2nd Bundesliga, coach Marcel Rapp’s team deservedly won 3-0 (2-0) at 1. FC Kaiserslautern. While the Kiel team is now in third place in the table with 26 points, the Palatinate team is slipping further and further down after just one point from the last five games. With 18 points, FCK, in eleventh place, is only five points ahead of 16th place in the table. Schalke 04.

Kiel’s goals were scored by Benedikt Pichler (16th), Fiete Arp (44th) and Pichler again (58th). In front of 38,367 spectators in the Fritz Walter Stadium, the guests were clearly the better team throughout the entire season. Kaiserslautern appeared to be completely unsettled in defense at times, especially in the first half, and were still well served by being two goals behind at the half-time whistle. Kiel could be the beneficiary next week when top teams St. Pauli and HSV play against each other in the Hamburg city derby.

Karlsruher SC leads after 11 seconds against 1. FC Nürnberg – and wins

A lightning goal after eleven seconds and two late goals helped Karlsruher SC to a home win. In the 4:1 (1:0) win against 1. FC Nürnberg that was clear at the end, Paul Nebel took the exceptionally early lead in the entertaining duel. Fabian Schleusener (70th) and Budu Zivzivadze with a late brace (89th/94th) scored the further goals for the recently struggling Baden team. The first 18-year-old Can Uzun had meanwhile scored the equalizer for Nuremberg (61.)

Coach Cristian Fiel’s Franco team missed out on staying in the promotion ranks with the defeat after the international break and are still ninth with 21 points. The KSC moved up to 14th place and gained three points ahead of the relegation places. Midfielder Nebel scored from a long shot forward and narrowly missed the record for the fastest goal in German professional football. On October 5, 2007, Benjamin Siegert was successful more quickly when he scored 1-0 for SV Wehen Wiesbaden against SpVgg Greuther Fürth after just eight seconds in the second division game.

The hosts got off to the ideal start after only one win from the previous nine second division games. Coach Christian Eichner’s team didn’t take too many risks, but had several great chances on the newly laid pitch. Nuremberg remained ineffective offensively in the disappointing first half. In the second half it looked as if the missed opportunities could take revenge for KSC. Schleusener hit the crossbar for the hosts, who hit the post in the first half. In return the score was 1:1. Schleusener headed a cross from goalscorer Nebel and Zivzivadze, who had just been substituted, scored two goals to provide relief.

SpVgg Greuther Fürth celebrates home win against SV Wehen Wiesbaden

Thanks to their home strength, SpVgg Greuther Fürth continues to make progress. The Franconians won at home against newly promoted SV Wehen Wiesbaden 2-0 (1-0). Coach Alexander Zorniger’s team moved up to fifth place in the table with their sixth home win in their eighth game. The gap to the promotion relegation place and Holstein Kiel is two points. Armindo Sieb (20th) and Branimir Hrgota (84th) scored the goals for the Fürth team, who celebrated their fourth win in a row.

The duel between trainer friends Zorniger and Markus Kauczinski was very exciting for a long time. Fürth got off to a better start after Wiesbaden lost the ball in midfield. Robert Wagner served Sieb perfectly. The 20-year-old then finished coldly with a well-placed shot into the far corner on the right side of the penalty area. Afterwards, the guest repeatedly sniffed at the equalizer, but left his opportunities unused.

The game remained competitive even after the break. After a great chance from Robin Heußer to equalize shortly after the restart, Fürth had the game back under control, but missed the reassuring 2-0 for a long time. Until captain Hrgota once again demonstrated his special quality with a goal.
