Personnel quake at Fortuna Düsseldorf: The second division relegated team is apparently separating from its sports director Sven Mislintat, who only took up the job at Fortuna in December 2025. This is reported by the TV channel Sky. The “Rheinische Post” also writes about an impending separation.
According to the Sky report, the club’s supervisory board met on Saturday – and decided to separate. Mislintat and Fortuna are said to have reached an agreement by mutual consent.
A possible successor for Mislintat, who also worked as sports director at VfB Stuttgart and BVB, is Samir Arabi, who has been looking for a job since leaving Arminia Bielefeld in 2023.
After the fatal 3-0 defeat in Fürth, Fortuna Düsseldorf crashed into the 3rd league last weekend. The vast majority of professionals will leave the team and their contracts will no longer be valid after relegation. Mislintat recently announced that he now has “almost no squad at all in the third division”. But he is no longer entrusted with the planning.
