2nd league – Boldt: Sticking to the concept and HSV coach Walter

Hamburg (dpa) – HSV sports director Jonas Boldt wants to hold on to coach Tim Walter despite the renewed threat of failure in the promotion battle of the 2nd Bundesliga.

“He’s very brave, he has a high level of leadership and he’s ready to move forward,” said Boldt on NDR television’s “Sportclub” program about the coach, who has been developing a team with perspective players at Hamburger SV since the start of the season consistently implemented. Boldt calculates that there will be setbacks and that the current seventh in the table could miss the hoped-for promotion again.

“We have the youngest team in this league. And he still picks up the players, even if they make mistakes and gives them backing. That’s important,” said Boldt, who believes the rejuvenation process in the team is the right way. “We have decided to follow this path without compromise. It is a long-term path with a very young squad, with a lot of talent and the will to develop further.”

It may be a sign “that we are the only second division team with the team and the coach in the semi-finals of the cup,” said Boldt about the duel with SC Freiburg on April 19 in the Volksparkstadion.
