At Dynamo Dresden everyone agrees: the team and coach work. Now we finally have to get points in the home game against 1. FC Nürnberg. Thomas Stamm demands the necessary conviction from his team.
Can SG Dynamo Dresden turn the switch after eight games without a win? It is clear that head coach Thomas Stamm is currently still firmly in the saddle. Sports director Thomas Brendel recently made this clear again. Nevertheless, a home win against 1. FC Nürnberg (Friday, 6:30 p.m. in the audio stream and live ticker) are good for everyone involved. “We have to be courageous in the way we defend. We are happy that we can finally get a home win. That is the goal,” explained Stamm at the press conference on Wednesday (November 5th).
“What’s crucial is that we go in one direction”
The coach noticed the support from the club and made it clear: “The important thing is that we go in one direction. If one side is not convinced, then success cannot work.” Apparently the people of Dresden are currently going in one direction. The disappointment after that Hertha gamewhere the SGD had almost no chance, especially in the second half, was noticeable. “It is crucial that we deal openly and honestly with one another. That has always happened.” The 42-year-old emphasized that he had also seen good approaches in Berlin.
Game idea is not important
Thomas Stamm doesn’t think much of changing his game idea, as mentioned by Brendel. “Since I’ve been here, I’ve always said: possession of the ball isn’t crucial for me. Dominance is expressed through the quality of the chances. How we create them doesn’t matter to me.”
He is firmly convinced that his game idea will bring points. There are some basics that have to be done differently. What will be crucial for Friday will be to become more intuitive. “The biggest mistake would be if we became passive. You have to decide based on your gut and not think about it so much. When things get tight, we don’t always get it right.”
Vincent Vermeij (left) could be in the Dresden starting line-up for the first time against Nuremberg.
Premiere for Vincent Vermeij?
Changes in the starting eleven are certainly possible. For example, center forward Vincent Vermeij could now celebrate his starting eleven debut in the black and yellow dress after his three short appearances. “He could be considered for the starting eleven, perhaps alongside Christoph Daferner, perhaps alone,” suggested Stamm.
And that Daferner against his Former club It can be assumed that it is burning. “It’s normal that there’s anticipation and wanting to show it to one or the other,” explained the Swiss football teacher, referring to the attacker’s unsatisfactory time at the club.
Nuremberg is slowly getting the hang of things
Coach Miroslav Klose has had difficult weeks with opponents 1. FC Nürnberg. After just four points from seven games, the 2014 world champion’s days in Franconia seemed to be numbered. Most recently, FCN remained unbeaten four times and collected eight points.
Great relief for FCN coach Miroslav Klose after the home win against Eintracht Braunschweig.
Unlike Dynamo Dresden, Nuremberg was able to escape the relegation zone for the time being. Interestingly, in exactly these four games the team had less possession of the ball than their opponents, even though Klose likes to define his game idea by having a lot of ball possession. The unconvincing 2-1 win against Eintracht Braunschweig has silenced the head coach’s critics for the time being. But the pressure remains high there too.
