27 minors in New Year’s riots

After the brutal attacks, the police have now set up a central office to coordinate all procedures. To date, 355 procedures have been initiated. 145 suspects were arrested. About two-thirds of the brutal attackers were under 25! Even 27 minors were among them!

According to the police, 18 different nationalities were identified. 45 of the suspects have German nationality, 27 suspects are Afghan nationals and 21 are Syrians. A total of 281 investigations and 74 administrative offense reports were initiated against the suspects.

Now a prioritized processing of the proceedings against young people and adolescents, for whom a rapid state reaction seems particularly necessary, be made possible.

“At the Berlin public prosecutor’s office, a department will be responsible for processing, which also focuses on violent crimes in the context of major sporting events (so-called “hooliganism”),” says a police spokesman.
