25 years of MTV Germany: program expansion for the anniversary

What many fans from back then may not even know: MTV Germany has been on German television for a quarter of a century. On March 7, 1997, the music channel went on the air for the first time. Viewers can therefore look forward to a special in the program in March.

On the occasion of the anniversary, there will be a reunion with old formats, but some new formats will also be launched in March. According to MTV, there will also be an on-air look for the station’s birthday.

Several MTV classics celebrate their comeback in the anniversary month. The “3from1” format will start things off, in which 3 clips by an artist will be played three times a day, Monday to Friday. On the weekends, the “Party Zone”, “Chillout Zone” and “Rock Zone” can be seen again, which are supposed to deliver the right club, after-hour and rock sounds.

In addition, eight new formats are in the starting blocks, which will celebrate their premiere in March. And on the weekends in March there is, as usual, the “MTV Weekend Special”. MTV viewers have already decided what to see in the anniversary month.

A special on the top 500 of the viewers’ favorite music videos will start on March 5th and 6th. The following weekend, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, there will be a “Female Power Weekend” where only female artists will be able to see music.

Then, over the weekend of March 19-20, Top 100 Videos With Celebrity Guests will feature the most famous, best and funniest celebrity cameos in music videos. And on the last weekend in March, MTV plays the top 100 hits of the 80s and 90s.

MTV can be received in Germany on free TV, as well as on MTV.de/live and in the free MTV Play app.
