For the 25th anniversary of Telekom Electronic Beats, the former department store Cank in Berlin-Neukölln became the stage of electronic music for one night. Between heavy bass and a surprisingly intimate mood, various acts gave themselves the handle. Long before the big acts of the evening entered the stage, the large hall filled. Laser twitched over the raw concrete walls.
A few well-known faces from the network world also mingled between the guests-including GNTM winner Stefanie Giesinger and some of the elevator Boys. Nevertheless, the party remained true to its original thought: open to everyone. Anyone who found out in good time was able to get on the guest list free of charge-in the sense of community instead of VIP exclusivity.
Performances from FKA Twigs to Boys Noize
FKA Twigs was the clear center of the evening and, with her appearance of “Eusexua” in a black leather look, fit perfectly to the backdrop of the Cank. It was also an opportunity to experience the British pop star in an intimate framework before his concert on Friday (Ubereate Music Hall). FKA Twigs almost hugged the audience, grinned, looked for eye contact and made the show so personally that it felt more like a small private concert. The audience sewed the moment.
Boys Noize delivered a set that could hardly have been more technical – straightforward, industrial, uncompromising. Between acid bonds and breakbeats, the Berlin producer showed how to staged club music with maximum force without overloading them. Every transition was sitting, every drop was weight.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of the evening came with Fuffifufzich and that in the very best sense. The actress Vanessa Loibl, who creates the project as part of a play. Her appearance was energetic, cheeky and exuberant. People danced and laughed at the same time. Correctly.
Epiq – a queer collective of 8 DJs from Cologne – brought to the stage with their set and a noticeably positive energy. The DJ desk was full of dancing crew members who held heart hands in the crowd. And let yourself be driven just like the crowd in front of it.
