The police in the Ostend zone received a warning that the man was planning to commit an attack in the station. As a precaution, the station was immediately hermetically sealed and tram and train traffic was stopped.
A little later the suspect was arrested near the station. He had nothing suspicious with him, and nothing suspicious was found in the station. According to initial findings, the man may be suffering from psychological problems.
The West Flanders public prosecutor’s office has started an investigation.
