Finn Porath (30th) meanwhile equalized for the Storks, who lost again for the first time in four games and are stuck in the table eighth with 28 points in the middle of the table.

Kaiserslautern, on the other hand, is fourth in the table with 35 points, just one point behind third-placed Heidenheim.

Lautern hits the goal, Kiel just the post

FCK got off to a good start and took the lead early on thanks to Hanslik’s header following a cross from Hendrick Zuck.

After that, Kiel dominated the game with a lot of ball possession and initially missed scoring chances when Finn Porath failed from a distance to goalkeeper Andreas Luthe (27th) and Kwasi Wriedt (28th) hit the post.

Holstein Kiel equalizes – and yet it ends up empty-handed

Confusion initially reigned when the equalizer was deserved: Lautern keeper Luthe, who had jumped past Porath’s header unchallenged, quickly took what was supposed to be a free kick. But referee Martin Thomsen had quite rightly decided on goal.

Kiel was then unable to use its playful superiority to score more goals. The Red Devils countered successfully: Boyd, who had previously missed a huge chance, converted a cross pass from Zuck to make it 2-1.
