2. Bundesliga: Hannover and Nuremberg collect big points – Rostock is closing in on Bielefeld

Teuchert scores twice

After nine winless away games in a row, Hannover 96 prevented the free fall in the relegation battle of the 2nd Bundesliga and managed their first win abroad since September 2022. The Lower Saxony won the duel with competitor Arminia Bielefeld in front of 25,921 spectators 3: 1 (2: 1) and got rid of their biggest concerns with 37 points. Match winner was double goal scorer Cedric Teuchert. The Bielefeld, on the other hand, can fall back to the relegation rank on Sunday.

The 96ers, who had only won one game in the last twelve games, took a 1-0 lead with their first attack. Goalscorer Teuchert scored with a shot from the edge of the penalty area after assisting Louis Schaub. Driven by the fans in the packed stadium, striker oldie Fabian Klos forced the equalizer in the follow-up shot in the intense game. With a hand penalty, Teuchert gave his team the lead again with the 12th goal of the season before Schaub made the decision 3-1. In the final phase, Hannover’s Yannik Lührs still saw the red card.

Strong Nurembergers stop Düsseldorf after Hecking’s mega rotation

1. FC Nürnberg, threatened with relegation, has reduced Fortuna Düsseldorf’s hopes of promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga to a minimum after a mega-rotation. The club eleven, changed by coach Dieter Hecking in seven positions, won 2-0 (1-0) and celebrated three very important points.

19-year-old Brown almost scored a second goal with his head. Fortuna goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier reacted splendidly (50th). After the strong performance, Nuremberg have a cushion of five points on the relegation place. Fortuna, unbeaten in seven games, goes into third place with at least seven points behind in the remaining five games.

A week after the 1-0 win against table leaders SV Darmstadt 98, the Düsseldorf team put on a rather poor performance in front of around 27,000 spectators in the Max Morlock Stadium. The FCN acted more snappy and also more determined. The agile full-back Brown scored after a cross from Mads Möller Daehli with a low shot from almost 20 meters. Dawid Kownacki was Düsseldorf’s offensive asset. He shot and headed twice dangerously (37th/72nd). For Fortuna it was the third defeat of the season against Nuremberg, including the DFB Cup.

2-0 against Fürth: Hansa Rostock wins in the relegation battle

In the relegation battle of the 2nd Bundesliga, FC Hansa Rostock has achieved its first home win in more than seven months. The previous table penultimate won 2-0 (0-0) against SpVgg Greuther Fürth on Saturday and thus improved at least for the time being to the relegation place. A 25-metre shot by Nils Fröling (50th minute) and a second goal by Dennis Dressel (66th) also brought the worst team of the second half of the season their first win under their new coach Alois Schwartz.

Hansa was the much more committed and dangerous team and therefore deservedly won this important home game. The Fürth made far too little of their visual superiority and hardly created any chances against the secure Rostock defence. In the corner kick statistics, Alexander Zorniger’s team was 11:2 ahead. Nevertheless, the offensive efforts remained much too harmless.
