19:25! Foxes go down in Göppingen with a minus record

By Ulrike Krieger

First the triumph, then the bitter fall! A week after the triumph in the European League, the foxes gambled away their last chance of a place in the Champions League.

The foxes throw themselves out of the Champions League after winning the European Cup a week ago in Göppingen. Losing with the worst attacking performance of the season embarrassingly 19:25 (10:14).

It wasn’t supposed to happen, but it happened. Swearing in, focusing, concentrating – none of this helped the foxes. The bankruptcy in Göppingen is to be understood humanly after the party days, not in terms of sport.

After 8 minutes it is 0:6. Coach Jaron Siewert (29) takes the time-out angrily, yells at his players: “There’s no reason to drive this thing down the wall yourself. Only we are to blame. I want to see more body language.

After 20 minutes (4:10) Siewert was fed up and put four of his first six players on the bench: Mathias Gidsel, Lasse Andersson, Mijajlo Masenic and Tim Freihöfer. Nils Lichtlein, Jacob Holm, Max Darj and Milos Vujovic replace them. It doesn’t necessarily get better.

Only 10 goals at half-time – minus record of the season!

Siewert: “It was the worst attacking game we’ve shown this season. That hurts extremely.”

The only bright spots are the saves by goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev (13, including 2 penalty kicks) and the goals by Jacob Holm (8 goals).

The litter quota remains below ground. In the end, the foxes have an unbelievable 20 missed shots and made eleven technical mistakes. Means a whopping 31 unsuccessful attacks, the chances just thrown away!
