After VfL farewell
Danny Blum (31) continues his career in Cyprus. After the contract of the native of the Palatinate expired at VfL Bochum, the winger moved to the dethroned series champions APOEL Nicosia, who just ended a season without a title for the second time in a row, on a free transfer.
Blum had played 64 games at VfL in three years and, with 20 points scored in the 2019/20 season, played a major role in the traditional club’s return to the Bundesliga. However, the former Schalke pupil made most of his appearances at his first professional station in Sandhausen, from where he found his way to the Ruhr area via Karlsruhe, Nuremberg, Frankfurt and Las Palmas (on Blum’s performance data by club).
With his move to Cyprus, Blum expands the not too long list of German professionals who also took the step into Protathlima Cyta in their careers. The transfer market statistics for the Germans on the Mediterranean island count 19 players, now with Blum, including Ioannis Masmanidis and Chinedu Ede, who are also known from the Bundesliga.
