About 180 Napoli supporters were arrested in the center of Eindhoven on Monday evening. The police report that “their behavior led to disturbances”. PSV will play against the Italian football club in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Four PSV fans were also arrested elsewhere in the city. According to the police, their behavior also gave rise to disturbances.

The police say that there were no actual disturbances or fights. According to a spokeswoman, the police wanted to prevent this with the arrests. There was also no confrontation with PSV supporters.

The arrested Napoli fans were on Fuutlaan. The police spokeswoman spoke of a large group, with “a certain atmosphere”. Officers spoke to the fans about their behavior and asked the group to leave the city center, but they did not listen.

The supporters were ultimately arrested for violating municipal rules regarding gatherings. They were taken by bus to the station on Mathildelaan, where they were interrogated. Some of the supporters do not have a ticket for the match on Tuesday evening between PSV and Napoli.

Eindhoven Mayor Jeroen Dijsselbloem previously established a safety risk area because of the match. This allows the police to carry out preventive searches in the centre, among other things.
