Eighteen people have been killed in an explosion at a munitions factory in the US state of Tennessee. Hupheys County Sheriff Chris Davis told local media on Saturday.

Every centimeter combed out

After the accident it turned out that a total of eighteen people, who were working in the factory at the time of the explosion, were missing. On images The British channel BBC shows that nothing remains of the factory building. According to the broadcaster, the explosion was felt more than 40 kilometers away.

The police now assume that all missing people have died, Davis said. “I can report that more than three hundred people have combed every inch of this factory and found no survivors.”

According to Davis, local authorities are currently working to identify the victims.
