15-year-old cyclist seriously injured in Emelgem

The teenager from Ardooie had cycled off a small road on Tinnenpotstraat when a motorist from Kortrijk passed and was unable to avoid him. An ambulance and an MUG team rushed to the scene to administer first aid.

The cycle path is popular with local residents to avoid the busier Lijsterstraat and Ardooisestraat between Ardooie and Izegem. Visibility is poor at the intersection and there is a traffic mirror.

Further investigation will reveal what exactly happened.
