13 corona cases in the Würzburg basketball team – Bundesliga – basketball

“A total of 13 coaches, supervisors and players from s.Oliver Würzburg showed positive results after a PCR test for the Covid-19 pathogen”, announced the Lower Franconian club. Among them are eight people who took part in the home game against Medi Bayreuth on Sunday (January 2nd, 2022).

According to the club, the Würzburg health department has initially ordered a two-week quarantine for a total of 20 players, coaches, supervisors and training players. According to the current status, the Franconians can therefore not play in the two upcoming away games on this Saturday in Bamberg and on January 15 in Chemnitz, as the club announced.

Displeasure at the clubs

Even before the game against Bayreuth, a player had a positive quick test. Other professionals showed symptoms and refrained from participating in the game.

The fact that the game was played anyway caused displeasure at both clubs. The clubs had mutually agreed on a postponement, but the league refused, referring to the rules that provide for positive PCR tests in order to agree to a postponement. The league confirmed this line again on Monday. It was said goodbye to all 18 clubs.
