112 news: van catches fire while driving • fallen trees due to bad weather

The weather was extremely bad in a number of places in Brabant at the end of the afternoon. In Breda and Tilburg, among others, this was accompanied by flooding and strong winds. Someone was slightly injured in a collision in the tunnel on the Leursebaan. The accident, which involved three cars, may have occurred after the driver of one of those cars had to slow down because of the large amount of water.

The tunnel was closed by the police while the accident was being dealt with. Although the water has already receded considerably, the municipality has been called upon to monitor the situation.

A tree fell on a car in the Isolindelaan in Tilburg. The fire brigade in the Central and West Brabant region received ten reports from around four o’clock that were related to the bad weather. Elsewhere in the province there was even less going on; nowhere did it cause major problems.

In Deurne there was not much difference: a tree fell over the Kranenmortelweg. Moments earlier, children had walked past that spot on their way to training at the ZSV football club. A 112 correspondent had heard from people in the neighborhood that it had long been known that the tree was in bad condition. The fire brigade cleared the tree.

The KNMI had already declared code yellow for the entire country earlier today, because some heavy rain and thunderstorms were expected.
