Forest ranger Erik de Jonge found an injured deer in the woods this afternoon after a hiker pointed this out to him. He found the animal in the woods at the Mattemburgh estate near Hoogerheide.
The animal has a broken neck and a broken hip. She was most likely hit. “At least 24 hours ago. Do you have a game collision? Always report it so that the animal does not have to suffer for hours or days,” the forester writes on Twitter. The deer was eventually killed. “He could no longer be saved,” said De Jonge.
