A car caught fire around noon on the A2 motorway from Eindhoven to Maastricht, near Maarheeze. The driver put his car on the hard shoulder when he suddenly saw smoke coming out. Then the flames quickly spread.
The driver was able to pull himself to safety quickly, but the car was lost. One lane was closed due to the fire. Around one o’clock in the afternoon, this led to a 6-kilometre-long traffic jam from the Leenderheide junction, causing a delay of fifty minutes.
