FC Schalke 04 – TSG Hoffenheim (Friday, 8.30 p.m.)

Bad air “at Schalke”: The game against Hoffenheim could be the last for coach Frank Kramer. The “Knappen” had recently lost three times in a row, those responsible at the club have given Kramer a grace period for the Hoffenheim match. That means: In the event of another defeat, the coach will have to go.

Frank Kramer at the press conference before the game against Hoffenheim to criticize his position as head coach of Schalke 04.

Speaking of coaches: With Hoffenheim coach André Breitenreiter, an old acquaintance is coming to the arena. The 49-year-old coached Schalke from 2015 to 2016. “It’s a normal game for me”, he says. The only thing special is that “we play against each other twice within a few days”. After the league game, the cup duel follows on Tuesday, then at TSG.

Incidentally, no other stadium has scored as many goals as Schalke this season – 20 in four games, eight of which were scored by the home side.

Eintracht Frankfurt – Bayer Leverkusen (Saturday, 3.30 p.m.)

After the clear 4-0 debut win of the new coach Xabi Alonso against Schalke, they probably thought in Leverkusen that everything would be fine again very quickly under the Bayer Cross. But then they lost 3-0 to FC Porto in the Champions League.

The Werkself are now traveling to Eintracht Frankfurt. And maybe then they will know in Leverkusen which way to go. However, the Hessians also like to take a roller coaster ride and recently presented themselves as a moody diva. A 2-0 win against the previously unbeaten leaders Union Berlin followed a week later, the defeat at the hitherto unbeaten bottom of the table Bochum.

Good for the fans: In their 74 Bundesliga duels, the two clubs never drew 0-0 – in the history of the Bundesliga no other pairing took place so often without a zero number. And something else for statisticians: In the past nine Bundesliga duels between the two clubs, the home team has always won.

VfL Wolfsburg – Borussia Mönchengladbach (Saturday, 3.30 p.m.)

The “foals” from Mönchengladbach are the declared favorite opponents of the “wolves” from Wolfsburg. In its Bundesliga history, VfL has won against no other club as often as it has against Borussia and has not scored as many points against any other club. 22 wins and nine draws resulted in 13 defeats and 75 points. Recently, however, the Gladbachers have caught up in the balance sheet: In the five most recent Bundesliga duels there were two wins and three draws.

In order for this to continue, the Gladbachers have to improve their graduation rate. Coach Daniel Farke’s team created the most big chances in the league (24), but only used 42 percent of them. Marcus Thuram alone awarded eight so-called “100 percent”.

Incidentally, the nickname “foal” would currently be more appropriate for Wolfsburg than for Mönchengladbach. VfL is in this season as young as ever. The players used had an average age of 25.0 years. The youngsters Micky van de Ven (21, best pass rate), Omar Marmoush (23, most shots on target) and Lukas Nmecha (23, top goalscorer) are outstanding. Only VfB Stuttgart is younger in the league.

VfB Stuttgart – VfL Bochum (Saturday, 3.30 p.m.)

More basement duel is not possible. Table penultimate VfB Stuttgart expects the tail light from Bochum. VfL recently clinched their long-awaited first victory in a clear 3-0 win against Frankfurt, which is probably also due to the change of coach. Thomas Letsch recently replaced his namesake Reis there.

In 213 Bundesliga games, Diego Klimowicz was sent off four times. Curious: the referee’s name was always Lutz Wagner – even in a game between Stuttgart and Bochum.

So we can be very curious to see whether the new broom will sweep well at the Stuttgart team. However, Michael Wimmer is only an interim coach, the Stuttgart team is still looking for a successor after the split from Pellegrino Matarazzo. In any case, Wimmer already knows the Bundesliga. The previous assistant coach replaced Matarazzo, who was suspended at the time, in the home game against Schalke (1-1) at the beginning of September.

Bochum’s coach Thomas Letsch speaks before the game against VfB Stuttgart about the Swabian coach change.

The statistics should only encourage one of the two basement children. VfB have lost just one of their last 17 competitive games against Bochum and have been unbeaten in ten Bundesliga games, longer than against any other current Bundesliga side. The Swabians’ last Bundesliga defeat against Bochum was in May 2005. The last home bankruptcy was more than 35 years ago.

Werder Bremen – 1. FSV Mainz 05 (Saturday, 3.30 p.m.)

SV Werder is still flying high. Fifth place is a great success for the climber. Niclas Füllkrug played a major role in this. The striker has already scored eight goals this season and is the sole top scorer in the Bundesliga. He is in illustrious company with Robert Lewandowski (FC Barcelona), Erling Haaland (Manchester City) and Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint Germain) who top the top scorer charts in their leagues. Werder has already scored 20 goals, only Bayern have scored more.

The opponent from Mainz should be wide awake until the final whistle, because nine of these goals came in the final quarter of an hour. No other team scored more often after the 76th minute. Mainz can only dream of that, because the 05er have scored a total of nine goals. Only Bochum scored less often.

But the three away climbs that the team has already run in speak for Mainz. And despite fifth place, Bremen are anything but strong at home. At home there were only four points. And in their Bundesliga history, Mainz have never celebrated more away wins than in Bremen – namely six.

RB Leipzig – Hertha BSC (Saturday, 6.30 p.m.)

Together with Stuttgart, Hertha are the draw kings in the league, they have already shared the points five times. By the way, with another draw, Hertha BSC would break the club record from the Set season 2005/06.

In Leipzig, the Berliners could be satisfied with a point again. Because RB is still undefeated at home this season and has only conceded two goals.

In addition, Leipzig has not won as many games and scored as many goals against any other team in the Bundesliga as against Hertha BSC: Ten of the twelve meetings went to the Saxons, with one draw and one defeat.

Last season it was clearer than ever before, RB won 6-0 in Leipzig and 6-1 in Berlin. “There’s no point in watching games from the past”said Hertha coach Sandro Schwarz, who incidentally wants to win in Leipzig.

Hertha’s coach Sandro Schwarz at the press conference to ask if he was satisfied with a point in Leipzig.

On paper, it’s easy, because the Hertha defense simply has to keep Leipzig striker Christopher Nkunku away from the goal. The Frenchman scored seven of Leipzig’s 14 goals this season. But that’s probably easier said than done. The Norwegian goalkeeper Örjan Nyland, who was brought in for the injured Peter Gulacsi, is new to Leipzig.

1. FC Cologne – FC Augsburg (Sunday, 3.30 p.m.)

FC Augsburg is one of the surprise teams this season. There were ten points in the last four games – no other team was more successful. The FCA had also never after nine Bundesliga matchdays a total of 13 points in the account. And now a record beckons, because there have never been five wins after ten match days.

The Fuggerstadt team are particularly strong away from home, there have already been three “threesomes”. And even now the chances are not bad on paper. In Cologne, FC Augsburg has been unbeaten for seven games, longer than any other Bundesliga club.

1. FC Köln is having a hard time with the English weeks. The team has yet to win a Bundesliga game after playing on the international stage this season. This may also be due to the rotation made by coach Steffen Baumgart. He sees himself as quite self-critical. “You could see in the last two games that I don’t do everything right and that not every decision is one hundred percent correct.”Baumgart said.

Union Berlin – Borussia Dortmund (Sunday, 5.30 p.m.)

Who would have thought? Union Berlin has been the leader of the table since matchday 4 and has made no attempt to vacate the top spot. Should the “iron” also beat Borussia Dortmund, they would be seven points ahead of BVB in the table.

Union puts away the international games unimpressed, after that there were three wins in the Bundesliga and not a single goal conceded. The core is the defense. Union only conceded six goals: Bundesliga best and half as many goals as Borussia Dortmund conceded.

The Dortmund team are confident, however, as they recently turned a 2-0 deficit against FC Bayern into a 2-2 draw. In addition, BVB is responsible for the Union’s last home defeat. In February 2022 it was clearly 3-0 for the black and yellow.

The question that came up again and again for Dortmunders was: Youssoufa Moukoko or Anthony Modeste? Things went well against Bayern when both were on the pitch. As a joker, Modeste first prepared Moukoko’s goal, then he scored himself at the last second. Maybe Moukoko and Modeste will now be able to play together in a Bundesliga game for the first time. One is 17, the other 34 years old.

Bayern Munich – SC Freiburg (Sunday, 7.30 p.m.)

On August 7, 1993, SC Freiburg played their very first Bundesliga game at FC Bayern. It was 3-1 in the Olympic Stadium, Oliver Freund went down as the first goalscorer in Freiburg’s Bundesliga history. Overall, the Breisgauers have only won four of the 44 Bundesliga games against Munich.

In the summer of 1993, the Bundesliga adventure started for SC Freiburg, at FC Bayern Munich of all places.

Now it could be that time again. SC is ahead of Bayern in the table, has been unbeaten in seven Bundesliga games and is currently longer than any other team. Christian Streich’s team hasn’t lost away from home yet.

Bayern, on the other hand, are in an earnings crisis. 16 points after nine matchdays is the weakest interim result in twelve years. Munich have only won one of their last six Bundesliga games.

During the week there was a 4-2 win at Viktoria Pilsen in the Champions League – after a 4-0 lead. “It’s normal that at some point we have Freiburg in mind”, said coach Julian Nagelsmann to the goals. This proves that Bayern see SC as an equal opponent.
