There Ferrari 849 Testarossa It was born as a direct heir to the SF90 and only later received a legendary name. Under the bodywork there is a 1050 HP hybrid system: 830 come from the new twin-turbo V8 and the rest from three electric motors, two at the front for torque vectoring and one at the rear between the engine and gearbox. The V8 has been profoundly redesigned, especially in the turbochargers, which are now much larger and made with cobalt aeronautical alloys capable of resisting temperatures close to 1000 degrees. The ceramic bearings require a dedicated lubrication system and the exhaust manifolds adopt bellows to manage weight, vibrations and thermal expansion. Variable distribution works extremely hard to keep energy on the turbines and reduce turbo lag. The aerodynamics are also completely new: the Assetto Fiorano version generates approximately 415 kg of load at 250 km/h, with 35% at the front. The bottom is full of flow diverters and the extractor is doubled to increase efficiency. The doors are patented because they are printed from a single sheet of aluminum and serve to convey air towards larger intercoolers. At the rear there are dedicated wings and an active spoiler. The big news, however, is the electronics with the Five system, which works in a predictive way by estimating the real speed of the car and managing brakes, traction and structure in advance. The result is an extreme but surprisingly drivable supercar, capable of combining hypercar performance with grand touring qualities. The true exceptionality of the project, however, is another: the 849 Testarossa is not a special edition nor a hand-built supercar, but a series production car for Ferrari. Technologies normally reserved for prototypes, racing cars or limited editions have been industrialized and brought to a range model. This is what makes the Testarossa something “alien”: not only for the numbers, but for the fact that laboratory solutions become mass production. The price starts at 460,000 euros and exceeds half a million with the Assetto Fiorano.
