On Saturday, the police and customs authorities found 100 kilos of hemp in a pile of plasterboard that was stored in a business building in Etten-Leur. The lot with a street value of just under four tons, the police confirm, has been seized and destroyed. The find was made during a regular check, it became clear on Monday.
A sniffer dog was used during the inspection of the property on Saturday. The dog struck a pile of drywall. That’s where the batch of drugs was found. The pile turned out to be hollow: the bags with hemp tops lay in the middle. The police are talking about a large consignment of drugs.
No one has been arrested yet. The case is under further investigation, police said Monday.
The check was done on Saturday as part of the fight against organized crime in the logistics sector. Various government services in West Brabant and Zeeland are working together for this purpose under the Transport Facilitated Organized Crime (TFOC) flag.
