After a rental year at NEC Nijmegen, Iván Márquez (31) finally leaves 1. FC Nürnberg. The central defender joins the Eredivisie competitor Fortuna Sittard, in which the Spaniard signed a three-year contract with an option for another season.
“For both parties, another joint cooperation was inconceivable, so changing for all pages is the best solution. We wish Iván all the best and good luck with his new task in Sittard,” said sports director Joti Chatzialexiou. For the FCN, Márquez, who came from the NEC in 2023, stood on the square in 22 games (two goals) before returning to Nijmegen in 2024.
“I am really looking forward to this new chapter in my career. Through my years at NEC Nijmegen, I got to know the Netherlands well. This time made sure that my family and I really feel at home here. It feels good to stay in the Netherlands in the coming seasons, at a great club like Fortuna Sittard,” said Márquez.
