Otto, who trained at Eintracht Frankfurt, came to the third division club from his youth club on a free transfer in the summer of 2024. The Giessen native made his breakthrough in the second half of last season and is the undisputed regular starter this season. Otto played in 32 of 35 third division games and increased his market value from 225,000 to 450,000 euros.
Otto’s breakthrough at Verl followed the departure of Fabio Gruber, who also moved to Nuremberg in January 2025 and is now captain there. The two appeared on the pitch together eleven times. Midfielder Tom Baack followed Gruber to Nuremberg in the summer, making Otto the third Verl professional in a year and a half to strengthen the FCN. He could replace Tarek Buchmann, who will probably return to FC Bayern after his loan. According to Sky, Otto will sign a contract until 2029.
