1. FC Nuremberg: 3rd home win in a row – Sandhausen scores a point at FCK

BTSV loses basement duel

Eintracht Braunschweig lost the basement duel at 1. FC Nürnberg in the 2nd Bundesliga. Without nine injured or suspended players, the promoted team lost 2-0 (0-0) on Friday evening. Eintracht has only won one of the last twelve second division games, for the Franconians it was the third home win in a row.

A week before the Lower Saxony derby against Hannover, former 96er Florian Hübner scored the first goal for FCN. The centre-back headed in the 69th minute from a Taylan Duman free-kick. Ex-Hamburger Jan Gyamerah made it 2-0 in the 81st minute.

After conceding eleven goals in the previous four games, the weakened Braunschweig emergency defense was safer this time than last. But offensively, the climber was far too harmless to endanger Nuremberg.

The team of former Eintracht player Dieter Hecking had significantly more chances to take the lead even before his two goals. The “Club” even came close to scoring a slapstick goal early on: After a strong individual performance by Lino Tempelmann, Braunschweig goalkeeper Jasmin Fejzic repelled the Nuremberg player’s shot from a tight angle, but the ball bounced off the crossbar in a roundabout way (13′).

1. FC Kaiserslautern loses contact to the top – 2:2 against SV Sandhausen

1. FC Kaiserslautern, plagued by a wave of illness, missed the 40-point mark. At the start of the 24th matchday, the Palatinate couldn’t get past a 2-2 (1-1) win against SV Sandhausen, who were threatened with relegation.

In a game that was below average before the break, Ahmed Kutucu gave the visitors the lead in the 8th minute. Kaiserslautern, who had to do without several regular players due to illness, started the game rather slowly in front of 39,779 fans in the Fritz-Walter-Stadion. Only after half an hour could the hosts build up pressure. If Erik Durm hit the crossbar in the 31st minute, Boris Tomiak made it 1-1 shortly afterwards (35th).

After the restart, the game flattened out even further in terms of football, Kaiserslautern was the harder-working team. Kevin Kraus scored a hand penalty in the 76th minute to make it 2-1. But the guests from Sandhausen fought back and scored a well-deserved point through Franck Evina (80′), who had leveled the game against Kiel the week before. With 39 points, Lautern is gradually losing touch with the three top teams from Darmstadt, Hamburg and Heidenheim. The guests from Sandhausen (21) are still in a relegation zone after the draw.
