Lukas Kwasniok started his work at 1st FC Köln on Monday. The new head coach has to make numerous decisions two weeks before the start of the training.

Shortly after 3 p.m. for Lukas Kwasniok on Monday (June 23) his new task. The technical director Lukas Berg collected the new head coach of the 1st FC Köln in the afternoon near the Geißbockheim and brought the 44-year-old to his future workplace.

Two and a half weeks after his official performance and a vacation with his family, Kwasniok is now taking up his work at the Bundesliga promoted and has to make initial decisions together with sports director Thomas Kessler before the first training session will take place on July 7th.

The team will come back to the Geißbockheim for the first time three days earlier and complete the mandatory medical and athletic tests. Which players will open at FC at the start of training is currently still open. Several national players will at least be missing, including Jan Thielmann and Eric Martel as well as Damion Downs and Said el Mala. The quartet is currently still with different country tournaments.

Since Kwasniok is considered a sponsor of young players, several young players are expected to complete the summer preparation among the professionals. MANSOUR OURO-TAGBA and MALEK EL Mala will always be included. Chilohem Onuoha, Etienne Borie and Fayssal Harchaoui should also get the chance to show themselves under the new coach. Other talents that are at least temporarily raised are not excluded.

In addition, the new trainer will have to decide which players he gives a new chance again. Neo Telle and Emin Kujovic should extend their contracts and then be awarded. For Jaka Cuber Potocnik, too, the club is looking for an old rental club. Maybe Kwasniok also has a different idea and wants to see one of the talents during the preparation in Cologne.

The 44-year-old will discuss every position in detail with Kessler. The future of Jacob Christensen is also unclear, who was over the outside after his cruciate ligament rupture last year. Sure seems that Rasmus Carstensen, Sargis Adamyan, Florian Dietz and Steffen Tigges will no longer have a sporting future with the Bundesliga promoted. If the quartet has not found a new club until the start of the preparation, it is still uncertain how the players will continue and whether they will be on the training ground on July 7th.

In addition, Kwasniok will have to have conversations with potential new additions. In addition to Ragnar Ache and Isak Johannesson, who has already presented the FC, the Cologne team need further reinforcements. The Cologne -based needs in particular in the gate. At the start, Marvin Schwäbe and Matthias Köbbing would only be on the pitch.

Furthermore, another right -back, a central defender, a six and an attacker are on the wish list of the Cologne. Much of it has already been discussed with Kwasniok, but some things will only be intensified in the coming days when the trainer can take on personal conversations after his vacation. With Frank Kaspari and René Wagner, Lukas Kwasniok’s two co-trainers finally started their work at the Geißbockheim on Monday. On Wednesday (June 25), the new head coach of the billy goats will be officially presented for the first time at a press conference.
