1. FC Köln has to reschedule due to the railway strike and is worried about its captain

1. FC Köln is worried about its captain Florian Kainz before its away game at VfL Wolfsburg. In addition, the billy goats have to spontaneously reschedule their arrival.

The medical department at 1. FC Köln has a lot to do these days. Davie Selke, Luca Waldschmidt and Mark Uth are still undergoing treatment after their injuries and can only work in the rehabilitation area. The trio will once again not be available for Cologne’s away game in Wolfsburg on Saturday.

However, things could get even worse for FC: Florian Kainz also had to deregister on Wednesday. The captain had received a blow to the thigh the day before and was therefore unable to train for three days before the next away game.

Easy all-clear for Kainz

In the afternoon, the FC gave the first all-clear, saying that Kainz had not suffered any serious injuries. Nevertheless, we are currently looking “day by day”, which means it is still unclear whether Kainz can make the trip to Wolfsburg on Friday.

Rasmus Carstensen will definitely be there for that. The right-back was absent on Tuesday due to illness, but was able to resume training on Wednesday and should therefore be an option for the coming weekend.

Rail strike affects travel to Cologne

While coach Timo Schultz will only have to change his line-up in one position on Saturday in the event of a possible Kainz failure, the billy goats had to replan in advance of the game. The people of Cologne actually wanted to set off towards Wolfsburg on the ICE on Friday afternoon.

However, due to the GDL strike, it was uncertain whether Deutsche Bahn would bring the FC to the Autostadt as planned. Accordingly, the people of Cologne have now decided to travel to Lower Saxony with the team bus earlier than planned on Friday.

The FC will have to plan around five hours for the almost 400 kilometers on Friday with the motorways probably full. Not an ideal journey for the second-to-last in the table. But like many other millions of people in Germany, 1. FC Köln has no other choice.
