According to his own statement, coach Steffen Baumgart from 1. FC Köln has not really dealt with the return of national striker Timo Werner to the next opponent RB Leipzig.
“I’m not interested in whether they bought space last week (national player David Raum, ed.) or Werner now,” Baumgart said before the game with the DFB Cup winner on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky): “That’s not my job . We know what’s coming, but we want to do our thing.”
Baumgart also did not want to be lured into statements about the special construct RB Leipzig. “This is a football club that has played in the Bundesliga for a long time and has a good structure,” he said.
With the existing staff, RB “actually always has to play for the German championship. But everyone else is welcome to discuss how the club came about. I only see the sporting aspect.”
