1. FC Kaiserslautern has taken another step towards promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. On Friday evening, the runners-up in the 3rd division won 2-1 (1-0) against the Würzburger Kickers, who were threatened with relegation.
The goals for Kaiserslautern were scored by Mike Wunderlich (34′) from distance and Terrence Boyd (58′) with a header. Saliou Sané (85th) only managed to score the goal.
A week after the furious 5-1 win against MSV Duisburg, the Lauterers secured second place in the table. Würzburg, on the other hand, remains in 18th place and is still seven points behind a non-relegation zone.
Due to heavy snowfall, the game started 30 minutes late. The persistent rainfall had flooded the course and made it unplayable for the time being.
