The 1. FC Kaiserslautern presented its new sports director with Marcel Klos. The 36-year-old Bonner had been employed as a technical director of the Genoa CFC since the beginning of last year, before that for almost two years as a senior assistant to the management at the Ligurian club. At the FCK, he follows Enis Hajri in the sporting leadership, who surprisingly discarded the Red Devils as a technical director in December. On March 1st, the new official will take up the work.
“We have repeatedly emphasized that we want to continue to develop not only, but also next to the square,” said Managing Director Thomas Hengen. “Part of this professionalization of the structures in the FCK is the appointment of a sports director. With Marcel Klos we win a competent and experienced specialist who is a valuable asset with his international expertise. His area of responsibility includes the interlinking between the young talent and the license team and the further development of the scouting area, also with the help of its broad network. In addition, it will of course form an important interface between the management and the sporting area. We look forward to constructive, professional and successful cooperation. “
In Germany, Klos was initially active in young talent at RB Leipzig, later as a scout at Hamburger SV. After moving abroad, Klos rose to the technical director at Vitesse Arnheim before he went to Genoa for him, where he worked with today’s coach of FC St. Pauli, Alexander Blessin.
