Frank Futselaar from Velp is the fastest Dutchman to cross the finish line. He did that in an unofficial time of 48.04. “After ten years finally the fastest Netherlands. The largest competition in the Netherlands, so that was cool,” said Futselaar.
Jonathan Kamosong wins the men in an unofficial time of 46.08. He is detached from his competitors in the last kilometers.
Hellen Obiri is detached from her competitor in the last kilometer and comes across solo. She does that in an unofficial time of 50 minutes and 50 seconds. 19 seconds short for a course record.
With one kilometer, Obiri and Ayichew will go to the finish.
Among the men, last year’s winner, Muktar Edris has to release. Six more front runners with the men.
With the women, Ayichew and Obiro are in the lead.
With the men, seven athletes are now heading. Muktar Edris, Ayana Geneti, Ben Connor and James Kipkurui are among them.
With the women, Caroline Gitonga really has to release. The women still have three kilometers to go.
Caroline Gitonga seems to have difficulty with the Teampo. She sometimes has to drop a hole. She seems to have to release, but a little later she is there again.
The women pass the 10-kilometer point in about 31 minutes and 50 seconds. Ayichwe, Obiri and Gitonga will determine who will win the race with the women.
After about 20 minutes, two women cannot cope with the pace. Now there are three who are in the lead. These are Asayech Ayichew, Hellen Obiri and Caroline Gitonga.
For the men, the leading group is somewhat larger with around 15 riders. Frank Futselaar was the only Dutchman in that group, but he was fired.
The road surface is wet, but that does not seem to bother five women. They separate themselves from the large group. That is not yet the case with the men.
Five minutes later than the women at 9:25 AM the men also started.
The women started at 9:20 AM.
We are live and we will stay that way. Our special broadcast lasts until 4 p.m.
