PVV leader Wilders had called for opponents of an AZC prior to the meeting to ‘not accept’ it if the council made such a decision.
“He is not about that,” said Snijders, the VVD member who has been mayor of Zwolle since 2019. “We are very able to make our own decisions. He could take another example in The Hague. He not only by the way. We are here in Zwolle for our decisions and we also feel responsible for the implementation thereof.”

Sedition
Snijders finds the statement of Wilders up. “But that is actually not new, he is constantly doing something like that. He is very one -dimensional in his performance. Asylum is just about the only theme he can think of. I prefer that he would be busy with nitrogen, for example, then we could really build more houses. Not only for refugees, but especially for all those children of our city.”

After the decision -making, the mayor walked past all group chairmen. “To thank them, because they have conducted the debate on the content, with arguments and facts. And yes, you can’t agree with that, like a part of the audience. The parties in our council knew how difficult this decision is, but they did stand for it. That deserves a compliment, that’s how politics should go.” Snijders did not want to say whether college or council members have been threatened in the past period. “There are speakers who felt threatened.”
