Cercle Brugge took the lead halfway through the first half. Edan Diop initially saw his shot stopped by goalkeeper Brent Gabriel, but Ibrahima Diaby (21.) was in the right place to give the Association the lead via the rebound. 1-0 was also the halftime score.
In the second half, Zulte Waregem went looking for the equalizer, but Opoku saw his attempt turned in front of the line by Magnée and Kiilerich’s header was turned away by Cercle goalkeeper Warleson. A little later it was the prize for the visitors. Jeppe Erenbjerg (58.) made it 1-1 just before the hour with a low slider.
Cercle hit back with a goal from Dante Vanzeir (65.), but the joy of the people of Bruges was short-lived. Barely two minutes after the 2-1, Marley Ake (67.) made it 2-2. From the turn, the Frenchman shot the ball into the top right corner.
The match seemed to end in a draw for a long time, but in the end Joseph Opoku (88.) gave the visitors the victory. Thanks to this three-pointer, the gap between the two teams is now four points, with only one match to go that is an unbridgeable gap.
