Zuiderdijk in Venhuizen temporarily closed due to fire and explosion risk

A fire broke out in a house on the Zuiderdijk in Venhuizen this morning. The fire is under control, but natural gas poses a possible explosion hazard. To give the fire brigade space, the Zuiderdijk between the Burgemeester J. Zijpweg and the Oostergouw has been closed.

This morning around 10.40 am the fire was reported in a house on the dike. The safety region quickly scaled up to a ‘major fire’, which resulted in even more fire trucks going to the scene of the fire.

The fire brigade is currently still extinguishing the fire. A spokesperson for the safety region said that the cause of the fire is not yet clear and is being investigated. As far as we know, no one was injured in the fire.

Zuiderdijk temporarily closed

In addition to the fire, there is also a possible explosion hazard due to natural gas. Network operator Liander therefore went to the home to investigate. Due to extinguishing the fire and possible explosion hazard, the Zuiderdijk is temporarily closed, between the Burgemeester J. Zijpweg and the Oostergouw.
