It never worked. The talent who blossomed in Bologna in a Champions League season, after two years at Old Trafford has accumulated 52 Premier League games overall but just 5 goals in an average of 37 minutes of use, which dropped to 26.5 minutes in 2025-26. Two different coaches and two ferrymen have had him at their disposal and they have all concluded that Zirkzee doesn’t work in the Premier League for now. Not at Manchester United, at least. He understood it too, convinced that the English gamble he wanted so much is losing. And that Serie A, where Milan is only the latest in a long list of teams that have kept an eye on him, would be the right championship in which to find himself.
