The governor of Bangkok, Chadchart Sittipun, is rushed to inspect the location of the collapsed road for the Vajira hospital. He said that Sam Sen’s nearby police station is still in danger. The foundation piles of the building have been exposed by a deep hole. He fears that expected rainfall can lead to further subsidence.

The incident took place in the building zone of a railway line, the so -called Purple Line. The authorities have closed all surrounding roads and are feverish people evacuating for safety reasons, including hospital patients. The hospital has announced that it will suspend the outpatient care for two days and only continue the clinical care.

According to the district office of the Dusit district, the cause is a jumped water pipe that led to the collapse of the road surface. The zinc hole has caused serious damage to the infrastructure, including fallen electricity piles, and important utilities.

Power failures, interruptions in the water supply and traffic chaos hold the surrounding neighborhoods in their grip. Emergency services work with power to limit the damage and to get the situation under control. Residents and commuters are urgently requested to avoid the area.

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul will visit the place of the incident later today.
