The first round matches of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) 1000 level Rome Open, held on clay courts at the Foro Italico Complex in the capital Rome, were played today.
Zeynep Sönmez, who is 65th in the world rankings, faced Ruggeri, who is 265th in the rankings from the host country, in the first round of the Rome Open, where she competed in the main table for the first time.
