Kyiv (dpa-AFX) – In order to strengthen the Ukrainian population’s will to persevere, President Volodymyr Zelenskyj is promising tax breaks for the reconstruction of the country. The government will present plans for a new tax model in the coming days, Zelenskyj announced on Monday. A new video on Telegram showed him in military gear on the street in front of the presidential office in Kyiv.

The tax rules should already apply during the war and for the post-war period, Zelenskyj said. One of Russia’s goals is to destroy Ukraine’s economy and infrastructure. “But we will rebuild every street in every city.” Small and medium-sized companies would be relieved, the head of state promised. “Everything that bothers you will be removed. Taxes will be reduced to a minimum.”

According to media reports, Zelenskyj announced on Saturday that fuel would be exempt from VAT and other taxes. This should ensure the supply of the citizens, but also that of agriculture for sowing./fko/DP/nas
