Zelensky: Russia’s goals go far beyond Ukraine
Russia’s goals go far beyond the current war against Ukraine, Volodimir Zelensky said in his daily video message on Telegram on Tuesday. Russia wants to carry out a “global attack on democracy”, according to the Ukrainian president.
“The ultimate goal of the Russian leadership is not only to conquer the territory of Ukraine, but to tear apart the entire center and eastern Europe and deal a blow to democracy worldwide,” Zelensky said.
However, continued attacks on Ukraine, such as now in the Donbas in the east of the country, will only bring “new losses” to Russia, Zelensky believes. After all, the attacks will result in a new EU sanctions package or more trade restrictions. The majority of Russians will therefore have to pay for the aggression of the Moscow government with poverty, according to the president.
