Zelensky: “Russia is using Ukraine as a training ground to attack other European countries” – Belgium approves Finland and Sweden joining NATO | War Ukraine and Russia

“Russia is using Ukraine as a training ground to attack other European countries.” This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during his daily video address on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Belgium ratified the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO.

“Russia is testing everything to get other countries involved. It started with gas wars and ended with massive invasion, missile terror and Ukrainian cities on fire,” it said.

Ukraine must also defeat Russia so that other countries will be safe, the Ukrainian president stressed. “The sooner this happens, the less damage European families and European countries will experience.”

Zelensky again expressed his gratitude for the HIMARS missile systems supplied by the US. However, he also insisted on the provision of air defense systems. Agreements have already been made with international partners. “But given the Russian attacks, a very different speed and a very different level of protection is required,” Zelensky said.

“Hunger Games”

In a speech to the American parliament, his wife compared the Russian aggression in her country to the American film series in which people hunt each other. “These are Russia’s ‘Hunger Games’”, it sounded.

Olena Zelenska also showed a video of a seriously injured 3-year-old boy. He is now learning how to use prostheses in Germany. “How many children like him are there in Ukraine? How many families can still be destroyed by the war? Stop this terror against the Ukrainians.”

Chamber approves Sweden and Finland joining NATO

On Wednesday, the plenary chamber approved the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO. There were 121 votes in favour. Only the PVDA voted against.

NATO member states already gave the green light for Finland and Sweden to join the alliance at the Madrid summit at the end of June. The two northern European countries are historically militarily neutral, but are forced towards the North Atlantic Treaty Organization by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Each NATO member state has yet to ratify the accession of Sweden and Finland. In our country, the federal council of ministers gave the green light earlier this month.
