Zayn Malik is in the hospital and pauses all promo dates for “Konnakol”. The ex-One Direction singer canceled shows and TV appearances.
Zayn Malik is pausing his promotional tour for his new album “Konnakol” due to an unexpected hospitalization. The ex-One Direction singer posted a photo from the clinic on April 17th. The musician wrote: “It breaks my heart that I can’t see you this week. Without you I wouldn’t be where I am today and I’m so grateful for your understanding.”
Canceled shows and postponed performances
According to a report from People, Malik would initially pause his entire promo. First he canceled a show at Banque Records. The One Direction star was scheduled to play an exclusive one-night-only event at Club Circuit in Kingston on Monday night, April 20. The concert would also have been a fan meet-and-greet for its loyal listeners.
The singer was also scheduled to appear on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday, April 21st. However, Malik now has to take further medical steps and visit one of the best cardiologists in the world before he can attend the appointment.
He did not give a diagnosis during his hospital stay, only that his health condition was due to extreme exhaustion. It’s probably related to problems with the cardiovascular system, as he thanked the hospital’s cardiology team in his Instagram post.
Open about health and mental health issues
The singer had previously always been very open about his health and psychological problems. In the past he suffered from eating disorders and panic attacks. About ten years ago he described an anxiety attack like this: “On the morning of the Capital Radio Summertime Ball, a panic attack hit me like a train. I was sick. I couldn’t breathe. The fact that something like that was possible scared the hell out of me, I was in shock. This overwhelming fear just came out of nowhere and brought with it a whole shitstorm of self-doubt. When my management came to see what was going on, I was a psychological emergency. If I took a step out of it As I tried to get home to get in the car and drive to Wembley, I ran into an invisible wall that knocked me off track again and I had to sit back down.”
Due to his mental health problems, the singer had already had to cancel live performances in the past.
Tour start uncertain
His tour for the album was scheduled to begin in the UK in May 2026 and then head to the USA. It is not yet clear whether the live performances will take place as planned.
If Malik’s tour is initially postponed, his fans will understand. They wish him only the best and hope for a speedy recovery. “Hope you get better soon” and “He needs to have a break soon” were commented by many on TikTok videos about his hospital stay.
